There are so many places with remarkable buildings which have been left empty. One of those buildings is this communal bathhouse from 1920, designed by architect Dudok.  In 2018, we transformed this national monument into a double-front house in close collaboration with the Monuments Committee of the municipality of Hilversum. The old structure has been largely restored, whereby the old Bleekveld has been transformed into a spacious and bright living room with a glass roof. The bathhouse has typical style features such as old tiles, masonry façades, a large chimney and strong blocks with a closed character. We add new style elements with robust openings and transparent lines of sight. In addition, the building has been made more sustainable with solar panels, a heat recovery system, underfloor heating and a heat pump.
