Sustainability

The design and creation of a building requires great dedication and the ability to balance interests, connect people and provide the best spatial solutions. With a strong responsibility towards society, we design buildings which are sustainable, carefully integrated into their surroundings, and which have a positive influence on our living environment and health. We feel it is our responsibility to contribute to a sustainable future.

Michael Noordam, architect-owner

'Architecture is where dreams become reality. Where aesthetics and practical use meet.' For Michael, there is another important factor: designing for a sustainable future. That seed, planted during his student years, has sprouted into a unique, realistic vision of sustainability. Michael now has quite a few sustainable buildings to his name, including the very recent transformation of De Tinfabriek Naarden.

Sustainable, careful choices

Buildings influence people and the planet. We feel it is our responsibility to design buildings that contribute to a sustainable future. Integral sustainable design means finding coherence between materials used, orientation of the building, energy generation and use, and people's behaviour. Thus, you do not just look at the building, but also at how it influences its surroundings and how it creates a healthy balance on both a small and a large scale.

ir. Bob Custers, architect-owner

Bob has a great passion for inner-city planning. Not just because of its complexity, but also for the connection between the old and the new. He has a clear vision of what a building should be: sustainable, simple, recognisable, and with dimensions that match people and surroundings. His extensive knowledge of historical construction, sustainable application of materials makes even the most difficult designs destined to succeed!

Designing for people and the environment

Buildings are about people. Space is created by cleverly arranging shapes and materials, and letting in natural light. It must be an inspiring, energising place that you long to be in. People must also be able to live healthily and comfortably in it. During the design process, we take virtual walks through the buildings and their surroundings. We experience the size of streets and squares, the scale of the neighbourhood and the role of the building within it. We want buildings to be so flexible that people will still be appreciating them in the future.

Ambitious in sustainable construction

Architecture must have a positive impact on our living environment and the health of users and neighbouring residents. We have carried out different assessments, such as BREEAM, GreenCalc + and WELL in award-winning projects, including our own sustainable office in the Bussum water tower. Ambition and experience go hand in hand with sustainable and cost-conscious designs. We strive for the highest possible level of sustainability.
