The shopping center on the edge of the historic center of Middelburg - separated from the city center only by the Pottenbakkerssingel - looked inward for decades.

Constructed from concrete, glass bricks and designed with hardly any attention to detail, it detonated considerably with the warehouses and mansions on the other side of the canal. It was a dissonance, and a solution had to be found.
Moreover, the building no longer functioned; retail spaces were insufficiently profitable, dated, uninsulated and no longer properly connected to the routing in the building. Owner and operator ASR Real Estate decided to invest in a sustainable upgrade, VOCUS architects signed a total recovery plan to get the shopping center "up and running" again.
